和P-51D一样，F-86F也是North American的杰作，造型优美流畅让人赞叹不已，二战后我最喜欢的第一代喷气战斗机

my flight instructor was a USAF F-86 pilot in the 1950's. In the 1950's, the US sent 1/3 of their F-86s to Korea, 1/3 to Europe, and kept 1/3 in the US.

He was sent to Europe, and was stationed in Germany. There he flew against Communist MiG-15s.

    Well, did he ever tell the advantages and disadvantages about F-86 & MiG-15?  What's he think about Communist pilot?

But I can only explain in English, I hope you can understand!

The MiG-15 held a great advantage over the F-86 because it could fly higher than the F-86. Other than that, the F-86 generally was superior.

My instructor was assigned to intercept MiGs that entered NATO airspace. A typical senerio would be a lone MiG crossing the boarder between communist East-Germany and NATO West-Germany. When this happened, my instructor would take off immediately to intercept the MiG.

The F-86s always flew in pairs when intercepting a MiG. The first F-86 would fly in front of the MiG to "guide" him back to East-Germany, while the second F-86 would fly directly behind the MiG. If the MiG tried to shoot down the first F-86, then the second F-86 would shoot the MiG down.

However, the MiGs would always have friends flying much higher in communist-airspace. So if the F-86s did anything bad to the lone MiG, the MiGs high above would swoop down and attack the F-86s.

Sometimes MiGs did shoot down F-86s and F-84s if they saw the Americans in a vulnerable position. They would simply swoop down from high altitude, make one quick pass, and with the speed from the dive, fly back to East-Germany before the Americans could react.

My instructor never shot at a MiG, although he came very close. One of his friends was shot down by a MiG, but lived. He lives in my city today.
