6 months after release, Valkyria Chronicles sees a major boost in sales. Congratulations SEGA!


Yes, you read the title correctly. According to Sega, in the month of April alone, Valkyria Chronicles sales in North America increased by over 400%. Due to word of mouth, a DLC release, a brief $30-off sale and community involvement, Valkyria Chronicles has finally seen a HUGE sales improvement. Sega even mentions the VGChartz contest as one of the reasons for the sales lift!

If you know nothing about the game (shame on you!), it takes place around the 1930s in fictitious Europe. You assume the role of Welkin, a heroic commander who leads his small platoon against two neighboring enemy nations on the brink of war. As Welkin’s small country is engulfed in battle, the “Valkyria,” an ancient race with destructive powers, emerges in the invading faction. Faced with this new threat, Welkin and his troops gather their courage to fight as never before for their freedom and a better future.

If you do not already own the game, do yourself a favor and go buy it. It’s unique, deep and filled with excitement. It’s a game that we would consider a true diamond in the rough (We gave the game a 9.4, after all). The game has currently sold around 470,000 units worldwide, according to our own numbers. Let’s help it reach half a million and hope for a sequel!
