[Fanfiction] Ace Combat: Scars of Ulysses

First off, I don't know a *word* of anything but English or Spanish, so I'm just hoping some of you know enough English to make some sense of my post.

Anyway, Scars of Ulysses is a fanfiction that's received a very positive reception from the English-speaking Ace Combat community; I thought it would be worth sharing with the rest of community. ...well, the bilingual community, I suppose, since I can't translate it. It started off as a squadron backstory, but has grown into what many readers and I think is a high-quality fanfic that delves into the psychological and political realms of the Ace Combat world while retaining significant military authenticity.

The premise is that after Operation Katina, more grassroots-oriented insurgent violence continues to permeate Erusea. Its military is generally sympathetic to Erusean nationalists, so the government attempts to stop them with a foreign legion. Politics, however, restrict it to an Air Force-only unit, which is essentially useless in a counterinsurgent battle. The story follows the psychological progression of the main character, a young naive Comonan girl, into a more existential worldview as her preconceptions are shattered by the reality of war in Erusea. All this is amidst domestic struggles for power among the Chiefs of Staff, separatists in Delarus and the Twinkle Islands demanding independence, and meddling by the ever-expanding FCU.
