Chris Deering, founding president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), has announced that he will retire at the end of 2005.
Reasons behind his departure are vague, with Deering expected to move to the United States where his family lives and pursue "personal interests." Fujio Nishida, executive vice-president in Sony Japan's electronics division will take his place.

"Chris Deering has made brilliant contributions to Sony Corporation throughout his career as president of Sony Europe, President and later Chairman of SCEE and as a senior executive at Sony Pictures," said Sir Howard Stringer, chairman and CEO of Sony Corporation. "The company will long benefit from all the initiatives he has put into place. He has earned our respect, our admiration and our gratitude and we wish him continued success as he moves on in his career."
