[求救] 新买的硬碟在USB线连接下winxp认不上

我买了一个USB2.0转换器。(如 )。
插上Maxtor 120G 连上底板的USB winxp就显示了问题.....
右下角图示题示"  One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.  For assistance in solving this problem, click this message"

当然 winhip 下找不到USB 外盘，也不能由PC灌game
请大家指点我的问题出在那里。.
