After a recent visit to the popular online retailer EB Games, an interesting tidbit caught our attention: the dealer is offering pre-orders on the PlayStation 2 version of Killzone 2.
According to the listing, the game will tentatively ship in January 2006 for an expected retail price of $49.99. No other information about the new SKU was offered, but at the very least, it's the first legitimate evidence of the game's existence since we ran a story confirming its production in 2004.
How reliable the supposed January 2006 release date may be is definitely up for debate. Games this far out are notorious for their tendency to switch street dates on a frequent basis. Nonetheless, retailers like EB and Gamestop have been known to add new titles to their databases as far out as two years prior to their debut. This means that even though a game may not release in January, it could still come out later that year.
We contacted Sony Computer Entertainment representatives for comment and they replied with, "Sony has no information about Killzone 2 at this time." |
