If you are playing PES 2017 in PS4, you may already faced these issues:

Getting the error message saying “Use of user generated media is not allowed for your account”,
Option files doesn’t seem to load,
Custom editing for unlicensed team (names, kits and logos) disappears in Team Select.
You are not alone, my friend.

I myself faced this problem. After doing some experiments, I have come to some solutions. Hope they can help you, too!

Use a PSN Account to start the game

The first thing that I noticed was that the option files wouldn’t load if you used a local account to start the game.

So, if you don’t have a PSN account, create one, sign-in to that PSN account and then restart the game.

Start the game using the same account that owns the option files

PES 2017 uses a separate folder for each user in the system, and it only searches and loads edit data files from the data folder of the user that started the game.

So, after creating the PSN account, you’ll have to do all the editing again (normally by importing from an existing option files pack on the internet).

Remember to start the game using that same account next time or else PES 2017 won’t be able to find the option files to load.

Player 2 must also be a PSN account

If you play with your friend and your friend signs in using a local account, the option files won’t load either.

I’m not sure this should be considered a bug. However after some more experiments, I’ve found a workaround.

To workaround this issue, create another PSN account for player 2. When player 2 signs in using this PSN account, the option files work perfectly again.

The above actions solved my issues. However, some people on the internet say that it doesn’t work for them even when they have signed in using 2 PSN accounts. If you are one of those cases, give the following tip a try.

Create a sub account with parent control level 9

Set parent control level 9 in PS4 settings (which means changing from “restrict use” to “Allow” use of apps).

Create a sub account (with a different email) to your master account in PSN – using your browser, verify it.

Then open your second controller in PS4 and log in with the created sub account.

All the PES17 PS4 Option Files will work and you can fully enjoy your game!

Conclusions

While these workarounds may work for a while, we don’t know how long we can enjoy them. Besides, since the PSN accounts are needed, I find myself struggle a lot when the internet goes down or when the PSN server goes unstable. Hope Konami will make this easier in the future so that we can really enjoy the game.
