Ubisoft sees strong H2 uptick, confirms outlook

PARIS, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Ubisoft (UBIP.PA), the world's third-largest independent video games publisher, on Wednesday said it expected a significant jump in sales in the second half as it confirmed its current year targets.

Ubisoft has been hit hard by the video games spending downturn, particularly in the U.S. market.

It made the forecast as it posted a 53 percent drop in fiscal second-quarter sales to 83 million euros ($122.4 million), marginally above the company's own expectations of around 80 million euros.

Ubisoft's fiscal year runs from April to March.

It forecast a 22 percent hike in second-half sales and a profit margin of at least 17 percent "thanks to a product mix weighted with high-contribution titles."

In September, Yves Guillemot, chief executive and founder of the French company, said Ubisoft was confident it could meet and possibly exceed its 2009/10 goals with the November release of titles such as "Avatar" and "Assassin's Creed 2".

The company's outlook is for 2009/10 sales of around 1.04 billion euros and current operating income of at least 7 percent of sales.

Ubisoft's main competitors are "Guitar Hero" publisher Activision Blizzard (ATVI.O), the world leader since the merger of Activision and Vivendi Games (VIV.PA), and Electronics Arts (ERTS.O), which also owns a near 15 percent stake in Ubisoft.

UBI的游戏早在当年PC上就不喜欢，画面太差，接纯了360以后，发现还是那样，画面质量太低，游戏可玩性都一般，如果破产是真的，一点都不惊讶。。。
