DS And Wii Break European Sales Records
DS has become the bestselling console in Europe and Wii the fastest selling console in the continent’s history, according to internal data released by Nintendo of Europe.

The platform holder said that the European DS installed base surpassed 40 million units as of December 31, 2009. The handheld launched on March 11, 2005 in Europe.

“Wii continues its momentum becoming the fastest selling home console in Europe by reaching the 20 million milestone in just over three years,” the firm added. Wii launched on December 8, 2006 in Europe.

Additionally, Nintendo released updated European sales figures for a number of first party games. Wii Sports Resort has sold “around five million” copies since releasing in late July, while “nearly half of all European Wii owners now own either Wii Fit or the new Wii Fit Plus”. The Wii Fit franchise has sold 9.6 million units. Sales of November 2009 release New Super Mario Bros. Wii have hit 2.5 million copies

wii的热销说明了一个问题，那就是不太玩游戏的人比核心玩家的数量要多得多……
