They're all trophy related, these are how you get them:

Lightning - Requires to unlock the Superstar Trophy (Beat final boss with 5 star rank)

Sazh - Requires to unlock the Loremaster Trophy  (100 monsters)

Vanille - Requires to unlock the *Spoiler* Trophy (Get to a certain part of the story)

Snow - Requires to unlock the L’Cie Paragon Trophy (5 stars on all stone missions)

Fang - Requires to unlock the Treasure Hunter Trophy (Get every weapon and accessory)

Hope - Requires to unlock the *spoiler* Trophy (Complete the game)

Serah - Requires to unlock the Platinum Trophy
