Also chekc out my controller design here.
Okay, here's version 1 of my design for the Revolution. It likely needs all manner of changes and improvements, so tell me what you think!
I didn't want to clutter this pic up with text like my controller pics, so I'll write out most of the features below.
- It has Wi-Fi connectivity, so it doesn't need a port for an internet connection.
- 2 normal controller ports like the GC plus 4 more built-in wireless ports for the Rev Controllers means up to six players.
- The disk reader supports both the GC mini-disks and the new cartrages that Nintendo plans to use (mini-disks in a case). An Open button has been added inorder to move the little door out of the way for the cartrages.
- One GC memory card can be inserted in the slot just below the disk reader, while most data can be stored on an internal hard drive.
- No DVD players or non-gaming related features are included.
- There is a serial port for a computer monitor on the back. I ony put a port for a CRT monitor, but if there are a lot of people with flat screen monitors, then I will try to add another port.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: Version 2
Changes:
- The previous disc/cartridge slot is now replaced with a tray that slides out for you to set the discs on. I'm assuming that Nintendo will not be using cartridges at this point.
- An info screen is added to the front. It probably would have many uses, but right now it's showing which channel is selected for the wireless controller ports.
- No more dials fot the controller ports. Now there are buttons that cycle to the next unused channel whenever they are pressed. The channel selected is shown briefly on the new info screen. Each button glows when that port is recieving a signal.
- My concept for the Rev Controller is shown side-by-side for comparison.
- Look closely and you will see the GC is a little bit bigger. That means the Rev would be about 11 inches wide instead of over 15 inches wide. The ports on the back are also the right size now, they were too large in the first pic. |
