Playstation Meeting 2005: Rumors UPDATE
More details, more information, more rumors. An update to yesterday's rumored announcements article.

It hasn't been even twenty-four hours since the story of a potential windfall of developer announcements hit the Internet and already enough new information has 'leaked' to justify a full update to yesterday's article.
Purportedly under some fairly serious questioning, the supposed Sony 'insider' has held his ground and maintained that the information leaked is indeed true; of course you would expect this same reaction whether he was telling the truth or not. There has also been further clarification that the information is not specific to Sony's Playstation Meeting this upcoming Thursday. Rather, it comes from a collective pool of Sony announcements that Sony will be spacing out strategically between Thursday's event and the Playstation 3's launch in order to best maximize Playstation interest and impact. With that caveat now added to the mix, we would question just how much of this information Sony would choose to unveil at their Playstation Meeting, even if it were all to be true.
Below is some of the expanded information provided with regard to yesterday's rumors, as well as several new rumors mostly related to Sony's over-arching console business strategy:
* One of yesterday's two mentioned Namco titles is Ridge Racer 6; the other is supposedly not a Tekken title

* Tecmo is the driving force behind pushing Team Ninja towards PS3 development

* PS3 titles will not be playable at the Tokyo Game Show; a seperate event may be planned for later in order to showcase playable titles
* Sony wishes to spend less money securing exclusive titles and is pursuing a strategy of improving development tools instead
* The PS3 is being redesigned in order to provide the best appearance when standing vertically

* Sony believes that 1GB memory sticks will eventually be available for the same price as Playstation 2 memory cards
* Sony is hoping to have 40 PS3 titles available at launch; the largest launch library in Japanese console history

Again, we must stress that none of this information is official, and we do not endorse it ourselves. Still, it is compelling enough to warrant publication. Please keep in mind that even if the source turns out to be an imposter, he has made such a broad set of claims that we would not be surprised if a good number of them turned out to be true regardless. For example, the core of the Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior series being default exclusives to Playstation would be no surprise, and claims such as a high level of PSP to PS3 connectivity have in fact been alluded to in the past by high-level Sony representatives.
As far as these rumors are concerned, all we can do is hope for an exciting Playstation Meeting this Thursday, and from there see what information trickles out of Sony in the coming months.
