Aimee Mann曾担任80年代新浪潮团体Til Tuesday的主唱。乐队在出了三张专辑后解散，。她的第一张个人专辑在1993年夏天推出，较之Til Tuesday，该专辑表现得更为内省和民间，并且赢得了一致地肯定。

早在1995年，Mann就在美国梅尔罗斯（Melrose）地区成功推出了单曲《That\'s Just What You Are》后，于1995年春开始准备她的第二张个人专辑，但Imago公司却在专辑出版前破产了。Mann遂与Reprise唱片签订了合同，但Imago却阻止她出任何专辑。整个95年Mann都在努力尝试让Imago公司给她厂牌上的自由，终于在年底得到了自己的独立。解决了与Imago厂牌的纷争后，她签约于DGC唱片公司。她的第二张唱片《I\'m With Stupid》终于在英国发行，96年1月开始在美国发行。专辑再次赢得肯定，但销售量却并不乐观。Mann的音乐生涯在2000终于有了全新的开始，单曲《Save Me》入围奥斯卡奖最佳电影歌曲。最初仅只接受了现场采访，她的solo专辑《Bachelor No.2》便开始在全国发行。2002年夏，Mann凭借专辑《Lost In Space》再次回到音乐的前沿阵地。
