Tom's Hardware sat down with AMD VP of Global Communications and Industry Management John Taylor to elaborate on the PlayStation 4's Jaguar APU (accelerated processing unit). While he didn't go into too much detail on the APU itself, instead touching on the significance of the partnership with Sony and reiterating its potential for gaming. He did, however, tease gamers about the upcoming Game Developers Conference.
Here's exactly what Mr. Taylor said that should keep our eyes focused (more than usual ) on GDC 2013:
"This is going to be a very exciting year for gamers, especially for those with AMD hardware in their PCs and consoles, as we have even more game-changing (pun intended) announcements still to come. Look for some more exciting things happening at the Game Developers Conference in March when we will provide even more info on how we are working with game developers to make AMD the hardware of choice for running the best games!"
In addition to the clear message that AMD will be showing off its tech and GdC, it's also telling that Taylor goes out of his way not to specify Sony in his comment. After all, rumor is that Microsoft is also working with AMD on their next console's CPU. Of course it could just be the way the interviewer was wording the question as well, or perhaps the comment is geared towards PC gamers rather than console gamers. It's diffi*** to tell based off the article. |
