　さらに、HDDの搭载に関しても触れた。HDDは、2.5inchのシリアルATA规格の60GBのものを脱着式で搭载する。しかも、将来にはアップグレードに対応するという。久夛良木氏は、开発者に向けて「まずHDDありきでソフトを开発してほしい」とアピールした。すべてのPS3に搭载するかどうかは市场の意向次第としながらも、プラットフォームとしてHDDのサポートをはっきりさせた格好だ。また、开発者のために、Linuxを搭载することも改めて述べた。

Earlier, we mistakenly reported that Sony had confirmed plans to
include the hard disk with the PS3 right out of the box.
Kutaragi actually stopped short of confirming this, leaving it
as an area of speculation for now. He did state that Sony hopes
to avoid a situation where some systems have the drive and others
don't (Kutaragi didn't mention Xbox 360, but he was probably
thinking it).

However, Kutaragi revealed that Sony had not decided whether or
not the PlayStation 3 would come with the hard-drive preinstalled.
"We might end up installing it in all PS3s, though that depends on
the market," he said. This raises the possibility that the PS3 could
be sold without a piece of hardware needed to play PS3 games--in
effect forcing consumers to buy a peripheral for basic functionality.
