In an interview with Kotaku, Shigeru Miyamoto gave out a few tidbits of information regarding Wii-DS connectivity and when the price & launch date for the Wii will be revealed.
First, Miyamoto said that Nintendo has already implemented the technology for the Wii and DS to interact. They're just not totally sure how they will use it. One possibilty is using the DS's microphone and touch screen to somehow affect gameplay on the Wii. Another scenario is possibly downloading data from the Wii to the DS, editing it, then transferring it back to the Wii.
Remember, part of Nintendo's goal with the Wii is to get people who normally wouldn't play games to play it (such as parents, non-gamer siblings, etc.). Miyamoto thinks that each member of the family will likely have their own Wiimote. You may have seen footage of different colored Wiimotes from Nintendo's booth. Apparently, not only will there be different colored Wiimotes, but they will have an effect on Wii functionality. Miyamoto said that a game's look or settings might be changed depending on the Wiimote used (and thus the person playing), which is certainly an interesting idea.
As for why Nintendo did not reveal a date and price for the Wii at E3, Miyamoto said that Nintendo likes to concentrate on the hardware and software itself each year and likes to leave the details for later. Miyamoto did however assure us that we'll find out Wii's price and release date before this year's Tokyo Game Show (which takes place in late September), which is nice to know.
PS:印象当中任天堂是历年缺席TGS的。。。. |
