Xbox 360 Disc-Scratch Lawsuit Appeal to be Heard by Supreme Court
Some Xbox 360 owners have been upset over the system scratching their discs and are trying to serve Microsoft with a class-action lawsuit. Now, the Supreme Court will decide whether or not the company will have to face it.
The Court agreed January 15 to hear Microsoft's appeal, which argues the scratched discs result from misusing its product and not a defect (via Associated Press). Microsoft claims that out of the 80 million Xbox 360 systems they've sold, only 0.4 percent of owners have reported disc scratching.
It was dismissed in 2012 with a judge ruling there were not enough complaints to justify the use of a class action lawsuit. However, it has since been reversed by a federal appeals court, allowing it to move forward.
一些360用户对于光碟被划伤很沮丧，尝试让微软吃官司。现在最高法庭决定不论真假，微软必须面对。微软称：光碟被划伤是由于客户使用不当，非产品本身质量问题。卖出的8千万台360中，0.4%的用户称有这个问题。2012年的时候，陪审团驳回该诉讼，由于投诉的数量不足。但联邦法庭将事情反转，让该诉讼向前推动。
