I doubt anyone can foresee the future in this gaming industry. A few years ago people were saying Nintendo was doomed, but they came back with the Switch which wipes the floor.

console war only ends when there's no more console left, each generation is a battle-field. You see people boasting about how PlayStation dominated market with PS2, you see people talking about Nintendo's history in gaming, all those are part of war building up to each battle. The war starts when more than 2 parties enter the field fighting for the same cake, the battle-field may move from hardware to platform where generations doesn't hold any meaning, but the war will never end.
