赫拉斯瓦尔格尔的说法是不合理的。
Othin spake:
"Ninth answer me well, | if wise thou art called
If thou knowest it, Vafthruthnir, now:
Whence comes the wind | that fares o'er the waves
Yet never itself is seen?"
Vafthruthnir spake:
"In an eagle's guise | at the end of heaven
Hræsvelg sits, they say;
And from his wings | does the wind come forth
To move o'er the world of men."

我坚持正解如下,是诸神黄昏的预言,虽然游戏里的鸟长得不像公鸡:
There sat on a grave-mound and plucked at a harp,
the giantess's herdsman, happy Eggther;
Over him there crowed in Gallows-wood,
a bright-red ***, whose name is Much-wise.
Over the Aesir there crowed Golden-comb,
who wakes the warriors at Host-father's home;
another crows beneath the earth,
a soot-red *** in the halls of Hel.
以上文字都出自poetic edda,但是是两个版本的英译。 |
