Inter close in on Maniche

Inter could secure the signing of Portuguese midfielder Maniche within the next 48 hours.
The Nerazzurri are looking to expand their squad after suffering a glut of injuries in the first half of the season and they seem to be ready to turn to Maniche.
The former Chelsea man is keen to leave Atletico Madrid, where he has been frozen out by Coach Javier Aguirre, and has rejected a return to England.
Maniche had a brief loan spell at Chelsea in 2006, but he has reportedly turned down offers from Middlesbrough and Tottenham in recent weeks.
Beneamata star Luis Figo has offered his support for Maniche and it seems that the wheels of a move are in motion.
Spanish Press reports suggest that Maniche could arrive at San Siro on loan until the end of the season with a clause that a permanent deal must be struck should Inter retain the Serie A title.
It is believed that Maniche’s agent Jorge Mendes is in discussions with Atletico officials today to secure permission for his client’s departure.
If the talks progress as expected, Inter could unveil their new recruit before the end of the week. |
