Wesley Sneijder is apparently poised to become an Inter player, with quotes from him indicating that he could even take part in this weekend's Milan derby.
It previously appeared that the 25-year-old had rejected the Beneamata's overtures to remain with Real Madrid, but today's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport carries some intriguing quotes from the Dutchman.
"I don't consider leaving Real to be a defeat because I am coming to one of the biggest clubs in the world, one which has won the championship for the last four years," the former Ajax midfielder enthused.
"In the last few weeks, [Inter coach] Jose Mourinho sent me a number of text messages to let me know how much he wanted me at Inter.
"The derby with Milan? The coach decides, I am ready to play immediately - I'm not lacking fitness."
Sneijder's statements follow news emanating from Italy last night that he had completed his move from Real Madrid for around ?5-16 million. However, no official announcement has yet been made by either club. |
