PURPOSE:

8 m9 I6 B  J- R; k' Z7 D  Z, h  Firmtool was created to allow users to easily create Samsung/BenQ
  Xtreme/iXtreme firmware patched with the correct information from
  their BenQ/Hitachi/Samsung original firmware.

5 o2 O- x+ y# w, X/ v3 y. ~( r* h  Firmtool supports original firmware from all drives currently
  shipped with an Xbox 360 console.  It will detect the firmware
' P0 A0 x5 _  @  c7 \! _  version, locate, check and copy the key, copy the version strings
  if different from the hacked firmware (aka spoofing), and copy the
7 {; A# K& S# Z0 P) _& H  drive serial (for BenQ firmware only).

USAGE:

  Simply place your original firmware file (orig.bin) and the hacked
  v" H; b$ l5 h) S- c& \  firmware (hacked.bin) file in a directory with firmtool.exe. If in
9 r( v7 e8 @1 _8 y- O' c" x  windows, open a command prompt window and goto the chosen directory.  
   
9 v" @& `' W& g  Then type:
* o& ^7 Q; r$ [5 g) P7 x  firmtool orig.bin hacked.bin
9 J- q/ q. g" a% ~
) x( Z2 C8 |( E/ |9 h5 }& y$ L  If firmtool completes without any errors or warnings, then the
  hacked firmware is ready to be flashed to your dvd-rom.

KNOWN ISSUES:

  - When firmtool is too deeply embeded in a directory, it will fail
# A1 p$ r: M3 H& ]% N; K3 U! I  i    to execute.  Simply move it to a directory located closer to the
    root of your filesystem and it will execute properly.
  - Firmtool will not accept ENCRYPTED hitachi firmware.  You must
  Z* ?4 Q. F5 B7 W8 U! P) o9 O" ^* M    first decrypt the firmware with 360 Firmware Toolbox.
$ S8 ]9 W( ?9 C; O6 g% Z/ p  - Do not use spoofed firmware as your hacked source.  Either use
    firmtool to spoof or spoof with 360 Firmware Toolbox after using
/ b: n; f% L# \, ]    firmtool to copy your key information.
# v6 M4 Y: r& B! p4 r  - 'Wisely Loves Lan' error with BenQ original firmware.  From what
+ L( f5 h" Y: ~0 a  i    have seen, 99% of original BenQ firmware has this string.  If
    you get this message with firmtool and it completes successfully,
    chances are your original firmware is fine, it just doesnt have
+ Q1 p" e6 C7 l2 Z5 ?0 _2 O+ w( R    the standard string in your serial.
