Nintendo quashed the rumors and dreams of a MMO style game being developed by the company in an interview with GameSpot today.

"The virtual-world services out there now still aren't at a place where we'd like to join in--and certainly not to the point that we'd want to jump into competition with everybody else." Satoru Iwata said. "We'd rather focus on doing things that nobody else would do."

Iwata states that before even considering an MMO game Nintendo would first ask if the game could be accessible to everyone. So while trading online furniture in a Mii based Animal Crossing world with thousands of other users may be out of our reach, who knows if Nintendo could put forth the effort and create a game fitting these features in the future.

任天堂最近澄清了关于公司将之作网游的谣言。岩田说这个领域确实有很多强有力的竞争对手，我们不想来搅网络游戏的浑水，我们只做别人还没想到的。他说公司确实考虑过制作这种类型的游戏，但前提是所有玩家都应该有机会玩到。到在基于Mii形象的一个虚拟世界里，去支持成千上万的用户的虚拟物品交易，这显然已经超出了我们的能力范围。但是，谁知道这是不是任天堂的托词呢，也许是以后的秘密武器吧。.

做成网游就也好，其实网游本身的出发点还是好的，人家那叫MMORPG。
到中国就变味道了
