Microsoft: Australian retailers 'excited' about Xbox 360
Contrary to a ChannelNews and SmartHouse report claiming that retail chains in Australia are thinking about dumping the Xbox 360, Microsoft said in a statement that Australian retailers “are excited about our current and upcoming offers, and we’re looking forward to another bumper year.”
“We are happy with where we are in the market right now. We’re significantly ahead of where we planned to be this financial year, and selling well both on the software and hardware side,” Mariana Cidade, PR Manager of the Entertainment & Devices Division at Microsoft Australia, told Alex Zaharov-Reutt of iTWire.
Cidade noted that since 2006, over 320,000 Xbox 360s were sold in the Australian market alone. Over 2 million units of Xbox 360 software have been sold in Australia and New Zealand, “nearly double our next-gen competitors combined.”
The Xbox 360 also has an “unprecedented” attach rate of 7 games per console in Australia alone, Cidade said. |
