Valve's Gabe Newell has suggested that there may be a PS3 version of Left 4 Dead yet, with EA voicing its interests...

Valve's Managing Director, Gabe Newell, has given hope to PlayStation 3 owners by stating that EA is "interested" in releasing a port of Left 4 Dead on the console. The title is currently in development at Valve for Xbox 360 and PC only, although EA has ported a PS3 version of a Valve game in the past with The Orange Box.

Speaking to 1up, Newell stated, "For The Orange Box, EA did the PS3 version. They're interested in getting a PS3 version done [of Left 4 Dead]. We just have to figure out where the resources can come from. We don't have the bandwidth. We're doing the 360 and PC version ourselves."

Valve currently has 150 employees under its awnings and there are no PlayStation developers amongst the team, so any prospective PS3 version of Left 4 Dead would have to be developed by a team of EA engineers. Let's just hope that if this does happen, then EA will do a much better job of the port than it did with The Orange Box.

In a TVG Left 4 Dead Q&A earlier this year, Valve's Marketing Director Doug Lombardi explained the developer's decision to branch out onto the Xbox 360 with The Orange Box and now Left 4 Dead:

"...the Xbox 360 makes sense because it's kind of like a cousin, if you will, of the PC. So, it's really easy for us to have a shared code base and to develop for something that has a 3D chip in it that looks an awful lot like the 3D chips that we've been writing for, and an OS that kind of looks like an OS we've been writing for."

除非EPIC把战争机器3做在XO上，否则EPIC以后没XO独占游戏了，还有那个光环制作组不是独立了吗，早晚PS3有它们的游戏的

As most of you probably know, Valve is continually updating titles from its Orange Box. The PC version has seen many updates, most frequently for the multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2. There's also a hefty updated on its way for the the X360 edition.

Valve's Gabe Newell, however, commented that the development studio doesn't intend to issue any of these updates for the PlayStation 3 version, seeing as that particular edition wasn't created internally. Read the full story.

What's more, Gabe said they won't be bringing the co-op zombie shooter Left 4 Dead to the PlayStation 3 either. He basically reconfirmed what they said early last month.
