Tecmo Koei Europe has, in a rather unusual manner, revealed that a demo version of the highly-anticipated Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 will arrive on PlayStation Network during September. Though the demo version had previously been announced, Tecmo's Facebook page revealed that it would arrive next month.
With Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 due to launch on October 2nd, 2009, exclusively on PlayStation 3, Tecmo Koei Europe's vicious action title currently stands as one of the most anticipated titles set for release this Autumn – and with good reason.
During Electronic Theatre’s hands-on time with the game at Tecmo Koei Europe’s launch event back in June, we assessed the value of bringing the title to the PlayStation 3. While it may stretch the term “exclusivity” to the most tenuous meaning of the word, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is undoubtedly a worthwhile revision of the well received Xbox 360 release, Ninja Gaiden 2. Featuring less blood than its’ Xbox 360 peer, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 ups-the-ante with the addition of a brand new co-operative mode, playable online. Not only that, but players will be able to take control of Momiji, the co-star of the Nintendo DS’s Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword and a ninja from the Hayabusa Village who trained under Ryu for that all-important goal - revenge - for the first time in a 3D title.
Precious few details are available currently as to what will be included in the demo version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 when it arrives in September, though it has been suggested that the player will be allowed to experience multiple characters in a single environment. Of course, Electronic Theatre will update you when receive official confirmation.
One other, vital titbit of information that has been revealed, however, is that Downloadable Content (DLC) is intended to follow the retail release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. An extra costume has already been revealed for inclusion in the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Collector's Edition, available exclusively at HMV, though we suspect much more will be available in time, perhaps even new levels for the co-operative mode. As ever, stay right here at Electronic Theatre for all the latest developments on Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 as they happen.
