传闻WIIU的内存大小和CPU频率尚未最终确定，旨在支持更多的控制器。
任天堂曾宣布WIIU只能支持一个手柄，并建议玩家用3DS来操作一些需要触摸板的游戏。计划中WIIU也将支持WII周边（GC手柄似乎不在此列）
消息来源称任天堂知道WIIU必须支持两个手柄。虽然任天堂在E3上没承认这点，但是它知道在技术上实现这一点是很重要的。对玩家和开发商而言，就算增加一个手柄会影响帧数也无所谓。
WIIU的具体信息将在明年E3完全公布，预计在明年夏天上市
Develop claims a “trusted game development executive” for the news, who said changes to Nintendo’s Wii U code base suggest support for multiple tablet controllers is inbound.
The source added that Nintendo is yet to lock down final RAM and processor speed specifications in addition to controller support.
On announcement, Nintendo had said the console would only support one controller, and suggested players could use a 3DS console if more touchscreen support was needed. The Wii U is also planned to support all Wii peripherals, although not Gamecube controllers.
“Nintendo now know they absolutely need to support two tablets. At E3 they didn’t commit to this, but they know how important it is to make it technically feasible to support two screens,” the source said.
“Even if that affects framerate, as a developer and player, I don’t care. It needs to work. Developers will design appropriate games for this. If you’re building a quiz game you’re not going to give a shit about the framerate.”
The Wii U is set for final reveal at E3 2012 and is expected to launch during northern summer.
