September 30, 2005 - Perhaps the most hotly disputed rivalry in the American Car manufacturing is the split between Ford and Chevy. Back in the golden days of Model Ts the Ford and Chevy teams clashed at a decisive race called the Westington Cup. This fall gamers will be able to choose from a variety of Ford and Chevy vehicles to pick a side and hit the road.

From what we've seen so far, Ford vs. Chevy looks like a solid game that is tailored to appeal to a mass audience. There are 48 vehicles divided evenly between the two manufacturers. Each of the cars can be upgraded with 150 parts from real manufacturers and the cars sport damage when they get slammed around. Players are able to buy new items by earning points in career mode and tune their cars with the upgrade.
Some of the featured machines include the 2005 Ford Mustang GT, 1957 Ford Thunderbird 312, 1932 Ford Roadster Street Rod, 2005 Chevy Z06, 1962 Chevy Corvair Monza GT, and 1936 Chevy "High Cab" Pickup. Players start their American racing experience by choosing a side and jumping into career mode. There are a few different types of challenges including a normal race, point to point races, and drag races. There are also more light hearted challenges like running down road signs that have been vandalized by protesters. Every blue-blooded American knows that the only way to stop those pesky protesters is crushing stuff with a pickup truck.

Currently the game is running smoothly and even sports some snazzy effects like highly reflective cars and detailed environments. The levels are various examples of Americana with rural pastures and pristine suburbs. Instead of focusing on the hardcore tuner crowd, Ford vs. Chevy's gameplay is targeting the Burnout audience.
