Inter Divided On Chivu Issue
According to Tuttosport, Inter’s club hierarchy is divided on the Chivu issue as president Moratti has backed off, whereas Mancini still strongly demands the player…
Even though Christian Chivu is set to play one extra year at Roma, it still seems that Inter haven’t completely given up on chasing the defender. Despite Moratti’s recent declarations which indicated a certain back off by the Inter president regarding Chivu’s possible transfer to Inter, Roberto Mancini still believes that the Romanian captain could be very helpful to the squad.
“I understand that Moratti has gotten tired of this issue, but it doesn’t change the fact that Chivu is an amazing player and that he could be very helpful to us,” said Mancini.
Moratti’s decision to take a distance from Chivu’s issue is most likely due to the fact that Roma demanded too much for the defender. Inter’s offer for Chivu was a cash-plus player deal worth of 14 million euros with the addition of Pizzarro and a loan deal for Obinna. An offer that wasn’t considered sufficient Roma, as giallorossi sporting director Pradé demanded a higher offer.
Meanwhile, Materazzi has made a remark on Chivu’s case and said: “Me and my teammates hope that he will come. He’s a great player, however it’s not up to me to decide who will join us or not. In any case, he could definitely add something to the squad.”
