Japan-based Mitsumi Electric raises forecasts by 59%.

When Nintendo officially unveiled the Wii Remote at the 2005 Tokyo Game Show, the general reception in the Nintendo community was one of bewilderment. While many had expected Nintendo's "revolutionary" factory of its next home console to be more of a gimmick than anything, they were pleasantly surprised when the motion-sensitive remote was finally shown.

To put it bluntly, the revolution seems to have paid off so far.

Wii Remote manufacturer Mitsumi Electric, a Tokyo-based company specializing in human interfacing devices has raised its net profit forecast for the financial year ending March to 10.2 billion yen (the equivalent of $84.54 million), a 59% increase in forecast. The increase has been mainly attributed to better than expected sales of both the Wii and the Nintendo DS.

The company is currently expecting total sales to reach 276 billion yen (2.27 billion), up by 15 billion yen (123 million) from last year's profits of approximately 261 billion. Company shares were up by 96% in 2006, and gained a 14.9 percent jump on the Nikkei to 3,090 yen (25.5)..
