In last month's retailer briefing, Nintendo announced dates for Sin and Punishment 2 (Wii), Valhalla Nights (Wii), Mario & Sonic 2 (Wii/DS) and Rune Factory 3 (DS).

Wii Software – Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort were the only games to chart for Wii. The Wii Fit Plus standalone package came in at 212,000 units for the week. Interestingly the Wii Fit Plus with balance board package hit 24,000 units. Some of those 24,000 packages probably went to the 5 million or so Wii owners who don’t own Wii Fit. But a lot of them, and I’d wager its most of them, went to new Wii owners. The Wii Fit Plus release also appears to have hurt Wii Sports Resort a little bit, as Resort dropped to 26,000 units for the week. Nintendo’s Wii price drop went into effect on October 1 in Japan, meaning four days of the week saw increased sales over the previous week. Wii Fit Plus probably provided a similar lift to Wii Sports Resort in addition to the price drop. As a result, Wii hardware sales should rise into 22,000 to 35,000 unit range for the week.
