THE OFFICIAL XBOX 360 & PLAYSTATION 3 RED DEAD REDEMPTION COMPARISON
RESOLUTION:
Xbox 360 - 720p native
PlayStation 3 - sub-HD (1152x640)
ANTI-ALIASING:
Xbox 360 - 2x multisampling anti-aliasing
PlayStation 3 - 2x quincunx anti-aliasing (with blur)
PERFORMANCE (FRAMERATE):
Xbox 360 - uncapped, 26-30FPS+ (minimal screen tearing, generally smoother FPS),
PlayStation 3 - v-synced, 26-30FPS (no screen tearing, some FPS hiccups), loading times are slightly quicker in-game
GRAPHICS:
Xbox 360 - smoother edges, cleaner looking textures (up-close), pop-in textures issues, texture rendering issues, post-processing effect dithers textures
PlayStation 3 - less pop-in textures, better texture streaming, better looking effects (explosions, weather, etc.), better lighting/shadows effects, better contrasting, some aliasing (jagginess) issues, bothersome blur on textures making textures look less detailed
Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3 - same draw distance, no freezing issues whatsoever, framerate tends to struggle during intense moments
*PlayStation 3 version requires a mandatory hard drive disk install whereas Xbox 360 version is optional |
