I left Wall Street in October 2004 with the sense that I wanted to do something different, something entrepreneurial, something truly transformational. After doing some angel investing and meeting with lots of super smart, interesting people through my friends and colleagues, I came upon an opportunity later that year which was to alter the path of my work pursuits and introduce a new-found passion into the mix. That passion was for changing the manner in which institutional investors and Wall Street access, analyze and monetize information extracted from the internet. The ultimate solution would be truly disruptive and markedly different than anything used on the trader or analyst’s desk today.
In late 2004, an angel investing opportunity geared towards developing this solution evolved into an entrepreneurial partnership with Jeff Stewart, who himself had a passion for creating disruptive technologies that will some day revolutionize the realm of financial services information. This was the advent of Monitor110, Inc.
I currently serve as President and Chief Operating Officer of Monitor110, a rapidly growing company that enables institutional investors to access, analyze and monetize information gleaned from the internet in a manner previously unthinkable. I am also Managing Director of Geometric Group LLC, the venture and business development firm which conceived of and seeded Monitor110.
Prior to joining Geometric Group, I was the President and CEO of DB Advisors LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bank AG. My 130-person team managed over $6 billion in capital through a twenty-strategy hedge fund platform with offices in New York, London and Hong Kong. Strategies deployed included managed futures, statistical arbitrage, merger arbitrage, event, fundamental long/short, systematic long/short, relative value, special situations, convertible arbitrage, foreign exchange and credit.
Prior to DB Advisors, I was Managing Director and Co-head of Deutsche Bank’s Global Strategic Equity Transactions Group. In 2000, my team won Institutional Investor magazine’s “Derivatives Deal of the Year” award.
As an Investment Banker and Managing Director at Citibank, I held a variety of roles and responsibilities in the Global Derivatives, Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions and Capital Structuring groups.
I currently serve on the boards of Monitor110, Inc.; Clear Asset Management LLC, a technology enabled investment advisory and financial publishing firm; Wallstrip LLC, the creator, producer and distributor of the Wallstrip video blog which combines coverage of hot stocks and trends with pop ***ure for the investment community; Global Bay Mobile Technologies, Inc., a mobile data collection solution vendor; and Spotlight Data Solutions, Inc., a provider of wireless data collection solutions for business process management. I also served on the Board of DSL.net Inc., a publicly-traded telecommunications company.
I hold an MBA in Finance, Accounting and Management from Columbia Business School and a BBA in Finance, Economics and Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan. For those familiar with Ann Arbor, I met my wife at Rick’s. It’s been almost 20 years since that wonderful evening and we are now the proud parents of two not-so-little Wolverine fans.
